Leadership

We seek to be biblical in our church leadership. Christ is the only Head of the church (Col. 1:18a).

All church members are equals – brothers and sisters in Christ – and have equal standing before the Father as priests. We cannot and should not go through any man or priest to get to God, except Jesus Christ. So as a congregation we stand on equal ground with no “special” super-Christian leaders. (Galatians 3:28; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 Timothy 2:5)

However, the Bible also teaches that there are leaders in each church called pastors, or elders. These are men who meet biblical qualifications and have been called by God and recognized by the church to oversee the flock. The Bible commands us to obey, follow and submit to these leaders. Scripture also speaks of deacons, who are multi-purpose servants in the church. Deacons minister in whatever needs are pressing. (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9; Hebrews 13:7,17; 1 Peter 5:1-5; Acts 6:1-7)

The Church at Meadowlake has a team of pastors/elders who lead the church as servants, examples, teachers and shepherds. These men are equals, yet serve according to their gifts. Our church has relegated decision-making abilities to these overseers so that every little decision doesn’t have to come before the entire church body. Larger decisions do.

Currently our pastoral team is made up of Mickey McCall, Cary Cox, Clint Pitman, and Steve Davis. Cary does most of the preaching and is financially supported by the church for this work.
