How to Live in Exile

Cary Cox, from 1 Peter 1:17-19. Peter shows us how Christians are to live while we are in this exile, far from our heavenly home. Our mindset helps us live with holiness and hope: remembering that God is our Father, He is the Judge, and He is our Savior!

The Lord is Coming Part 2

Cary Cox, from Malachi 2:17-3:5. God has told his people that he is coming to them. But now he clarifies that this might not be as fun as they think. When he comes, he will painfully purify his people, and he will judge the wicked.

God Judges and God Saves

Cary Cox, from Genesis 19. God absolutely destroys Sodom and Gomorrah for their great sins, but he rescues Lot in his great mercy. We are shocked into understanding just how wicked sin is in the sight of God. We see Lot’s failure to lead his family spiritually, or to exercise wisdom and spiritual discernment. God’s people are warned against loving this world, and reminded that judgment is coming. Our salvation and our treasure are in Christ!

God of Mercy and Judgment

Cary Cox, from Genesis 18 (Genesis Study 37). God appears to Abraham and they share a covenant meal. The Lord brings two announcements: An announcement of promise concerning Sarah, which displays his great and wonderful mercy! And an announcement of judgment for Sodom, which displays his great wrath and justice! God is, at the same time, the glorious God of mercy and judgment! Both his mercy and wrath are displayed at the cross in Christ, who rescues us from judgment and brings us into the enjoyment of God’s mercy!

Remember God Judges Sin – Jude Study 3

Cary Cox, from Jude 5-7. The church in every generation will face some form of the lie that you can live in sin and not be judged by God. Jude reminds the church that God will absolutely judge unrepentant sin, fiercely. He gives us 3 examples from Scripture to show that when we step outside the boundaries God has set over our lives and our bodies, God will judge this rebellion. Christ saves us from the wrath of God!

Remember God Judges Sin – Jude5-7 – Cary Cox

Psalm 1

Cary Cox, from Psalm 1. The first psalm shows us what true worship looks like – the man who is blessed rejects sin and the counsel of this world; instead, he delights in the word of God!

The Fierce Anger of God – Nahum Study 1

Cary Cox, from Nahum ch1. What happened to Nineveh after they repented at the preaching of Jonah? Nahum tells us the rest of the story, and reveals God as the glorious and powerful God of wrath and vengeance against his enemies. God will destroy the wicked, and he will rescue and comfort his people!

The Just Judgment of God Part 3 – Romans Study 9

Cary Cox, from Romans 2:6-11. God will judge all people according to our works – what we have done, and what we seek in life. We will give an account for the outward things, and for our hearts. Christ is our only hope!
